Solving the most crucial challenge of our time through engineering ingenuity

Mitigating climate change, i.e. limiting the global temperature increase to 1.5 degrees, is the greatest challenge of our time. Achieving this goal requires novel, sustainable, and CO2-free energy systems in all relevant sectors, from transportation to power generation, heating and cooling, to industry. In addition to the availability of advanced technologies and the development of appropriate products, its scalability and its competitiveness compared to “fossil-based products” are of particular importance. Only this scalability and competitiveness can ensure the actual introduction on a large scale and in the shortest possible time. This is important to achieve the required CO2. reduction. This task is indeed immense, however, more than feasible to achieve if we ambitious and optimistic mindsets prevail.

A generational task

Reducing CO2 emissions through technological transformation

Our core mission at Anovion is to play an active role in mitigating climate change, and thus, to make a measurable contribution to achieving the 1.5 degree target. We seek to significantly reduce CO2 emissions through implementing technological transformations. To do this, we develop clean technologies as well as offer products and services that (1) have zero CO2 emissions path, (2) are market-competitive, and (3) are industrially scalable for rapid deployment.

Time is extremely limited to avert very critical scenarios beyond 1.5 degrees of global warming. We must act now, with unconditional courage and full commitment. We owe it to the next generations, we owe it to the future of the world, we owe it to ourselves.

Team

We are a team of engineers with different backgrounds in the fields of engineering research, general mechanical engineering, thermofluid-dynamics and energy systems. Coupling these fields with our experitse in experimental, numerical and data-driven methods enables us to offer our Anovion breakthrough engineering solutions. Our profiles are rounded off by a hands-on work approach as well as practical knowledge in techno-economics of respective products.

Co-Founder | Design, Engineering and Experiments

Frederik Berger

Frederik studied mechanical engineering and management and holds a PhD in engineering science from the Technical University of Munich with a focus on thermo-fluid dynamics. He is the author of more than 20 scientific publications on hydrogen safety, thermoacoustics, measurement techniques and data analysis, as well as on the design of thermo-fluid dynamic systems.

Frederik is driven by developing products and technology that adress real world problems. At Anovion, he is responsible for the end-to-end prototype development, that is from the first conceptual design over engineering detailing to the hardware building, commissioning and testing. In order to ensure fast and efficient development cycles, he is passionate about employing highly effective product development methodologies hat combine collaborative and creative thinking with systematic and digital engineering methods.

Frederik also leads the digital transformation of mechanical engineering from development to after-sales services at Albert & Hummel GmbH, a mechanical engineering company for automation and robotics solutions for industrial production.

Co-Founder | Modeling, Analysis and Simulation

Tobias Hummel

Tobias studied mechanical engineering and energy technologies and holds a PhD in engineering science from the Technical University of Munich with a focus on analytical modeling and simulation of thermo-fluid dynamic systems. He is the author of more than 20 scientific publications on thermoacoustics and thermo-fluid dynamics as well as modeling and simulation of dynamic systems.

Tobias passion driver is transforming scientific results into real-world solutions. His main interest is combining model-based and analytical engineering methods with machine learning approaches to create powerful tools for next-generation product development. At Anovion, he is responsible for all engineering actitives related to modeling, analyses, numerics, optimization and simulations.

Tobias is also a member of the management team at Albert & Hummel GmbH, a mechanical engineering company for automation and robotics solutions for industrial production. Here Tobias leads the company's development in the course of the digital transformation and the holistic further development of the product portfolio.
